Guide to choosing wonderful party themes
|
Creative party themes can transform baby showers from mundane to unforgettable! As always, we believe that the very best party themes are those that come out of your - the hostess' - imagination, with contributions from the mommy-to-be. Nothing to beat originality, when it comes to baby showers or anything else. However, it helps to have a starting point, which is what this page really aims to provide. We'll describe ideas that are being used successfully. But read them with your creative hat on!
The biggest plus of having party themes for baby showers is - focus. Planning everything else - games, decorations, food, invitations, favors and maybe even the location - becomes easier. This is why experienced hostesses often prefer to have one.
Sometimes nature does the planning for you - if mom-to-be is expecting twins, Noah's Ark is a logical party theme to have! Noah brought two of all creatures along - and mom-to-be seems to be imitating him! Guests can bring along two gifts, you could have two centerpiece cakes, and so on.
Since this event is about babies, an object (or maybe a set of objects) associated with them can be a focal point. Thus, you can have party themes built around diapers, soft toys, baby feet, booties, bottles, yellow ducks, and so on. Or perhaps around feeding time stuff, play time things, etc which would mean an assortment of items as the focus for baby showers.
The little one will soon be singing nursery rhymes before long. So such rhymes can be themes for baby showers. Whatever you used to sing, like twinkle twinkle little star, or Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, etc - you can choose these or many others. Choose games, food, decor, to tie in.
Or perhaps you were more into stories when you were a baby. So choose your favorite one as the theme for your baby shower.
Many hostesses choose to identify important landmarks in the little one's life - and use 'Baby's First' as their party themes. Examples include when the little one first starts on solid food, crawls on her knees, etc. Identify many such landmarks, assign one to each guest and ask the guest to bring a baby shower gift related to the event.
If you want to receive a wide assortment of gifts, use party themes like 'time of the day'. Assign a different time of the day to each guest. Ask her to bring along a gift she believes the baby (or mommy!) can use at that time of the day. At the baby shower, ask her to explain her choice!
