Six things to include in a party invitation
for baby showers
Like
most hostesses, you obviously want to write a perfect party invitation
for baby showers. It's certainly an important task - a great
party invitation
has the power to effectively express the mood of baby showers. One part
of a great invite is good design. But this is not all that difficult to
do - today, there are excellent online options for customizing cards
available.
The other
thing to look at is - exactly what information do you include in one?
See this checklist of six things. Some of the points may not be
relevant to your party invitation, but this is broadly what to include
when making invites for baby showers.
- Start
with basic stuff - names of the parents-to-be and the hostess.
Everything under this point is included in every invitation for baby
showers. You'll include date, time & venue of the celebration. You
might even tell guests how to get there, if many don't know the place.
- It's
a nice idea if the party invitation specifies who exactly is invited.
Is it only for the person whose name you're printed on the envelope -
or does it also include her spouse & kids? This will depend on the
kind of baby shower you're planning to have.
- Gift
registry information. Can you include this in the invitation? Sure,
baby showers are usually not highly formal occasions. Unless you want
to make them so! Is there an alternative? Yes, just let folks know
about the registry when they call up to confirm. Many guests would ask
at this point, anyway.
- Which
brings us to the RSVP. Include full details - name of the contact
person, her phone number / email address. In your invitation, request
their RSVPs latest by two weeks before the baby shower. And then watch
some guests come in without ever calling! But that's fine, too!
- Let
them know in your party invitation if there are any theme based dress
requirements. Or if you want the guests to bring something along for a
game, etc.
- Tell
them if it's a surprise. This will prevent goof ups like someone
getting the party invitation, and then immediately calling expectant
mommy - 4 weeks before the baby shower!
