What to include when making invitations for baby showers
Making
invitations is, in a sense, the starting point for baby showers. It's
fairly easy to do; just stick to a few simple guidelines. I've outlined
these below for you. Now, making invitations yourself, from scratch,
for all baby showers you host is probably the best option. If you don't
want to do that, it is quite easy to create customized printable
invites using online software.
And there
are services where you can personalize cards online and have them
professionally printed and delivered to you. Either way, check out
these points on making invitations for baby showers.
- The
truly basic information that should always be included when making
invitations for baby showers: names of the mom-to-be, dad-to-be and the
hostess (that's probably you).
- Obviously,
all invitations will contain the date, time, venue of the baby shower.
You might want to include a simple map, or detailed instructions, if
many guests don't really know where the location is.
- While
making invitations, specify who is being invited. Sometimes you only
want to call the person to whom the card is addressed. Other times you
may want to include her spouse and even kids in the baby shower.
- RSVP
information. Put in the name and phone numbers of the person they
should call. And request them to call and confirm by a specific date,
say around 14 days before the baby shower.
- When
making invitations, let them know about the gift registry / store
mom-to-be's using, if she's using one. Is it ok to include this info?
Yes, baby showers are not highly formal parties, so it is quite ok.
There is an alternative - tell the guests when they call up to RSVP; a
lot of them would ask anyway.
- Are
you planning a surprise party? If that's the case, include this
information when making invitations. Otherwise there's always a danger
that before the baby showers, someone may call up expectant mommy and
talk about the event!
- Special
requirements. Some games might require guests to do certain things
prior to the baby shower. Or you might be having a theme which requires
a dress code. Include these details.
