|
If you're not sure how to make a diaper cake for the baby showers you want to attend, then you'll find the information below quite useful. These centerpieces are certainly preferred gifts at these celebrations, because of their utility as well as charm. They give the expectant mom lots of things she needs in a single package; so knowing how to make a diaper cake can be of great value if you plan to give gifts at baby showers. So let's get into the steps to making these centerpieces.
Obviously, the first step in how to make a diaper cake is to get everything that goes into it. You'll need to do some shopping before you can make these baby showers centerpieces!
This will require some patience. But the end result will be worth it! Have someone help you while you follow these instructions on how to make a diaper cake. An extra pair of hands is certainly of use. (And it won't hurt to play soothing music in the background.)
Baby step 1: Tie each diaper into a roll
Let's start with the narrow ribbon. Cut a one foot length,
approximately. Roll up a diaper and tie the ribbon around it. Do the
rest of the diapers this way.
You might want to spread this task out, in case you feel it's too much to do at one shot.
Baby step 2: Create your tiers
Let's proceed further with how to make a diaper cake. Put your candies / wrapped chocolates / other item into the baby bottle.
Arrange about 5-7 rolled diapers in a circle around the bottle, each diaper in a standing position. Pack them tightly. Then tie a length of narrow ribbon around them to secure into place. This makes the top - and smallest - tier.
You'll use about 13-18 diapers for your middle tier. First create a small circle of 5-8 diapers, tie them together. Next, stand approximately 13-18 diapers in a circle around this small circle, secure them with the ribbon. That completes your middle tier.
Repeat this process with about 25-33 diapers to make the bottom - and largest - layer.
Baby step 3: The final stretch on making a diaper cake
It gets better now - so keep going!
First things first - the largest tier should be snug and secure on the platter. Use pieces of adhesive tape to attach the underside of the largest tier to the platter. However, don't use tape excessively - if you do, mommy can't use the diapers!
Use the same approach to fix the other two tiers as well (the tier with the bottle in the center goes on top, of course).
Remember all the other baby items you bought - pacifiers, bibs, etc? Now's the time to fix all of them onto the cake. Use your creativity and sense of balance to do this. Tuck them into the ribbons that secure each tier. Plus, use additional ribbons to attach all these items.
Finally, to transform your cake into a thing of beauty, wrap it in clear cellophane, finish off by tying lovely bows with wide ribbons. Place the cake in the middle of a large cellophane sheet, then bunch the cellophane artistically (or with as much art as you can manage!) around it. Tie a bow at the top with the ribbons.
That's the complete deal on how to make a diaper cake - it only remains to watch the look of delight on mom-to-be's face when she gets it!
