Fun activities to spice up your baby showers

Play a few exciting, fun activities and you'll find the energy level and participation at your baby showers going up. Some say that apart from having punch, playing fun activities are the main reason they love at baby showers! One thing's for sure - games get everyone to join in and be involved in the event like almost nothing else can.

That's quite important if most guests don't really know each other; maybe they know only mom-to-be. Probably the only way they'll mingle together is if you put on a few fun activities at your baby showers.

Go through the ideas listed here. Pick and choose fun activities you can use. Maybe even combine ideas, come up with your own to create truly original stuff for your baby showers.

Rapid-fire exploding balloons
This is a good, noisy way to kick off fun activities at baby showers! Come up with a list of baby names. Include a name that's mom-to-be's favorite. Have lots of balloons ready. Write each name on a small piece of paper.

Insert each slip of paper into a balloon, and fully blow up the balloons. At the event, announce what mommy's favorite name is. The guests have to find the slip of paper which has that name. To find out, they've to sit on each balloon and explode it! Each guest can sit on only one balloon at a time! Fun activities like this one give terrific results at baby showers.

Expert advice from guests
Some fun activities are truly hilarious. Here's one. Hand out 3 x 5 cards to everyone. Ask them to write down the first baby related question that comes to their mind. It could be, for eg, "What will you do when baby has colic?" Now take the cards back. Shuffle them, hand them out again - at random. Ask guests to write down the answer to their original question on the card's reverse. Now read out the question and answer on each card! You'll laugh till your sides ache! Great for baby showers.

Trick bottle
Other fun activities are funny even if you look at a photograph of it, years later. This is one such - try it at baby showers. Have a few baby bottles handy. Seal the nipple of one by over boiling it. Fill up the bottles with water, fresh juice, etc. Hand the bottles out to a few guests; ask them to compete to finish drinking in the least possible time.

It's comical enough to watch grown ups drink from a baby bottle - it is even more entertaining to watch someone try to drink from a sealed bottle! Take lots of photos and preserve these moments.

Bagged heads?
Have large paper bags ready (the grocery store type). Give one to each guest, ask them to put it over their heads. Now ask them to remove / take off whatever item they don't need. Watch in silent amusement as guests take off rings, necklaces, bracelets and even some clothes! You'll actually have to remind some of them that what they don't need is the bag! These are fun activities that have been very successful at baby showers.

Of cotton balls & bowls
Fun activities items needed are cotton balls, one large bowl and a large spoon. Plus a blindfold. At the baby shower, one guest starts off - blindfold her, seat her on the floor (or at a table) with the cotton balls spread in front.

She must pick up the cotton balls with the spoon and place them into the bowl. She's allowed to hold the bowl with one hand, but not to tip the bowl such that its edge is level with the floor. Everyone takes part - you can even have a prize for the winner. Fun activities like this one are simple but quite exciting to play at baby showers.
