There
are plenty of baby shower games to play, ranging from common word
twists to exotic 'African quests'. The kind of party ideas to include
at your event is limited only by your imagination. Do you need to have
baby shower games to play? The biggest reason for having them is that
well-chosen party ideas and activities can transform your event into
great fun, with everyone enjoying herself (or himself!). Besides, if
many of the guests do not know each other, these activities are
excellent icebreakers.
Let's look at a few selected baby shower games to play at your next event.
Transport the balloon:
This one's a favorite in the baby shower games to play list. One of
those party ideas that has consistently generated laughs. Take several
colorful balloons; place them in a laundry basket at one end of the
room. Place an empty laundry basket at the other end. Divide guests
into two or three teams. One person from a team picks up a balloon,
sets it between her legs. Now she has to talk across the room, with the
balloon between her legs, over to the second laundry basket and drop
the balloon into the basket - all without using her hands! And without
dropping the balloon. That's real tough. It's great fun to watch people
waddling across the room! She is permitted to jump over the second
basket to drop it in. After she either gets the balloon into the
basket, or drops it, she has to run back. Then the second person from
the team does the same thing. The team that gets the most balloons in
wins. Try it. It's a great laugh generator and real fun!
What did she say?
Another of great baby shower games to play. But use this party idea
only if the mom-to-be does not take offense! When the gifts are being
opened, ask someone to discreetly take notes of what the expectant
mother says. Write everything down. Once all the gifts are opened,
announce that whatever she said during gift opening was also what she
said on the night the baby was conceived! And read out her statements
one by one! An innocent remark like, "Ooh, it's so adorably cute!" can
take on all sorts of meanings when seen in this new light!
Bottoms up:
There are many good baby shower games to play at co-ed parties.
Here's one of those party ideas. Get several small bottles; fill them
up with water, or fruit juice, soft drinks, etc. Have a stopwatch
ready. Each guy drinks as fast as he can from a bottle - and the
fastest one wins! It's hilarious to see grown men trying real hard to
drink from baby bottles! Have a special prize for the winner, something
men will enjoy.
Wisdom for mommy:
Did you know that giving sage advise can make for great baby shower
games to play? Here's a neat party idea. Hand out 3" X 5" cards to each
guest. Ask them to write down (on one side of the card) a common issue
or question new parents will face. For example, what will you do when
baby starts crying uncontrollably and guests arrive? Or if she starts
throwing food around (the baby, not the guests!). Once the questions
are written down, take the cards back and shuffle them well. Then
redistribute them at random to the guests. Now ask them to write down
the answer to their original question on the other side of the card.
Finally, read out the question and answer on each card! This one's
great for laughs!
