Baby shower activities - exciting,
|
Great baby shower activities can transform your celebration from mundane to extraordinary. Party games are the life of most events, and certainly of showers. The advantage of having baby shower activities is most obvious if many of your guests don't know each other. If that's the case, well-chosen party games can be great icebreakers. They get guests to mingle together and have a great time. Of course, even otherwise, they're a wonderful idea, because they can be so much fun.
Here's a selection of baby shower activities you can use. Try to add your own unique twist to one or more of these party games - that's the best use of this list.
So go ahead and make these baby shower activities the starting point for your brainstorming and creativity.
Carry the balloon:
Here's a fun shower activity. To play this party game, fill a laundry
basket with colored balloons and place it at one end of the room. Place
an empty basket at the other end. Split the guests into two or three
teams. One team starts off with someone picking up a balloon and
placing it between her knees. Then she has to carry the balloon and put
it into the other basket - without using her hands! Not so easy at all!
She can hop over the second basket to get the balloon in. Once she
either gets it in or drops it, then a second team member repeats the
process. The team with the most balloons in the second basket wins!
What was said then?
Include these sort of baby shower activities only if mommy-to-be
doesn't get offended easily! Stay off party games that might hurt her
feelings. When she's opening the presents, get someone to discreetly
record her reactions, and write down whatever she says. When gift
opening gets over, announce that whatever mommy-to-be said then was
also what she said on conception night! Read out her comments aloud -
mommy will be red in no time! Think of all the things an innocent
remark like "Ooh, its so huge!" can mean, when viewed in this light!
Sage advise:
Here's another of those hilarious baby shower activities. Distribute 3
X 5 cards to everyone and have them write down a common question new
parents will face. For instance, "What will you do when baby wakes up
at 3:30 am and starts crying?" Now take back the cards, shuffle them
well. Re-distribute them at random. Have everyone write down the answer
to their original question on the reverse of the card they got. Now
read each question - and the answer at the back of the card. Great one
for laughs! This is one of the hit party games at showers.
New use for string:
Yet another good one among baby shower activities. Get all guests to
cut a length of string from a ball you provide. Given the party games
they played elsewhere, most will think it is for measuring mommy's
waist and cut accordingly. Now, ask each guest to slowly wrap the
string around one of their fingers, while talking about themselves and
their relationship with the mommy-to-be!
